Sunday 30th April 2017; Waking Faith Daily Devotional By Steven Furtick - God Can Deal with Your Downside

2 Corinthians 12:9

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."

Everything changes when you realize that your deficiencies put you in good company. Most of the legendary Bible figures had serious weaknesses. And in some cases, their weaknesses even contradicted the very things God called them to do.

Peter, the disciple God used to lead thousands to repentance at Pentecost, was also the disciple who publicly denied Jesus three times in His final moments on Earth.

Abraham, a man who had the faith to leave his home without even knowing his final destination, was also a man who lied and gave up his wife in the face of fear.

Moses, the man chosen to bring God's people out of Egyptian captivity, was also the man who suffered from such a serious lack of confidence that God had to turn his staff into a snake in order to prove His power.

Whatever downsides you may have, God knows how to deal with them. His selection process isn’t based on pedigree or power. In fact, it’s the opposite. In 1 Corinthians 1:27, it says that “God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”

Your weaknesses don't stop God's power; they actually create capacity for more of His power to work.

That's why, like Paul, you can boast in your weaknesses. Not because you're proud of your problems, but because you can have the confidence to know that God's power will rest on you while facing them.
