Together We Can

In this month of our independence, I can't help but think of our beautiful country Nigeria. As a nation we have too many issues like;

• Corruption: Most people want bribe(kick-backs) even for jobs they are already paid to do.

• Bad leadership: People we didn’t elect, (elected themselves) and all they want to do is loot and they lack integrity and even the ones that were voted in by the people become confused ,that they lost their way.

• Terrorism: Boko Haram is killing people everyday and kidnapping teenage girls, with such impunity, because they feel it is the right thing to do.

• Poor facilities: We do not have good roads, no great schooling system, no light basically no good amenities.

In my opinion the main reason we have all this issues is because of the heart of Nigerians. It is high time Nigerians started to have a change of heart. An average Nigerian, if given the opportunity would want to loot and cheat people; Yes we know the situation in the country is bad, unemployment, bad roads, inconsistent power supply, high cost of living and education and yes we know the list is endless but that doesn’t give us a reason to make things worse.

Every Nigerian should start to act like a great leader because we are all leaders in our homes, place of work and our environment. We need to take charge of our own lives and future, make a conscious effort to be kind to one another, do things for people without asking or expecting anything in return, see ourselves as one nation no matter the tribe or religion and most especially remember to pray for our country.

The second stanza of our national anthem is a great prayer it says;

"O God of creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace
And justice shall reign”

and Psalms 2 verse 8a says “Ask of me and I will give the nations for your inheritance” . So if we want a better Nigeria we should remember to ask for it.
When we start to make all this little changes, we are not only changing the present we are also changing the future because a pure heart will be the heritage of our future Nigerians and we will start to produce patriots and leaders with integrity and self worth.
Together let us create a better Nigeria.
