LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

So often,  we allow the ups and downs of life make us forget; we are the light of the world. Sitting in my room, listening to country music, from my phone got me thinking about a lot of things in life.
Life has knocked me down a lot of times but as many times i have been down, i always pull myself back up. As a woman in my late twenties with no job, struggling to make ends meet, and no great career, trust me i have been beaten down by life one too many times. Mostly in a society where a woman's worth is judged by certain things, like:
  • If she has a spouse
  • Who her spouse is and
  • If she has children
If you don't have this things or you have one or two out of this things, by their standards you are a failure. Some people are bold enough to tell you to your face they think you haven't archived success or even when they are decent enough not to say to your face, you see it in their eyes or their actions.

Do not get me wrong there is nothing wrong in wanting these things, i  also want them too, but i won't allow having them or not having them define who i am, or stop me from achieving my goals in life. While waiting in my waiting room, i will continue to work towards leaving a mark that time and space can not erase. I will continue to work at making the world a better place one step at a time, in my own little way.

What i am  saying in essence is, do not allow what others think about you dim your light, do not allow what the society think you should be define what or who you are. Start thinking about and working towards how the life you are living will be of benefit to you and your community at large.

Stop wallowing in self pity because the bible in Mathew 5 verse 14 tell us that, We are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. So if you haven't started illuminating every where you go, it is not because you are not good enough, it is because you are allowing other people dictate who and what you ought to be and because you haven't fully accepted God's love and grace. Understanding his love and grace helps us move through life.
